Every year, federal and state governments continue to adopt complicated and often confusing laws that are implemented and sometimes retroactively applied or repealed. This makes it difficult for most people to understand changes that affect their ability to preserve their assets for themselves or their families. Our attorneys stay abreast of these laws and will work with you to protect your interests. Watch this page for the latest updates on current estate law.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our friend and colleague David C. Reid, Esq., Of Counsel, on October 1, 2010.
David had a significant impact on the Rochester legal community, having spent more than 35 years representing clients and families in estate planning, estate and trust administration, tax planning, business law, charitable foundations and trusts, and charitable giving.
David believed in the power of the law to protect and serve people as stated in the following quote from Cicero, “The precepts of the law are these: to live honorably, to injure no other man, to render to every man his due.”
A member of the American Bar Association’s Trust and Estate/Real Property Section, David was past chairman of the Monroe County (NY) Bar Association Trust and Estates Section and served on the association’s Ethics Committee, By-Laws Committee, and House Finance Committee. He was a member and past board member of the Estate Planning Council of Rochester, NY, and a charter member of the Financial Planning Association of Greater Rochester, NY. David was elected a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and was listed in “Best Lawyers in America.”
David served his community on the Canandaigua, NY, City School Board, as member and past president of the Canandaigua Rotary Club, past president of the Granger Homestead Society (Canandaigua), participating founder of the Ontario County, NY, Humane Society, and principal advisor to the Robert G. Boehmler Community Foundation.
